Night of the Full Moon [Open to All]

She could feel the change start to take her, which it wasn't supposed to. She had taken that potion that was supposed to stop the transformation but it didn't seem to be working. The asshole that made it promised it was just as good as anything she could get in a store and half the price. Normally Yvette wouldn't do something to stupid but she had just used all of her money on her the first and last month's rent on a shitty apartment and couldn't afford anything more.
Now she was paying for it. The moon was up and her skin went beyond itching, beyond burning, to feeling like it was splitting open. Which it was. Yvette could feel the bones in her jaw start to crack to elongate to form a snout and her teeth ached as they tried to elongate and then it would just stop, half formed and settled back. The hair on her body didn't same, ripping through the skin before settling back down.
Over and over her body started to change and stopped, started and stopped. She didn't trust herself to stay in her apartment, worried that she would destroy it and lose her security deposit. Yvette thought maybe running would help the restless feeling but it didn't. Her body wanted to shift into here werewolf form so she could lope along but couldn't.
It hurt like hell. Worse than hell.
It got so bad that she tried to shift, to force herself to become her werewolf form but she couldn't do that either. The potion was shitty enough that it wouldn't prevent her from shifting completely but apparently it worked well enough that she couldn't shift all the way and make the pain stop. She was going to fuck up that asshole that sold her this assuming she lived through it.
Work. She had to get to the Watersong. Something about it dampened her werewolf abilities so maybe it would be enough to stop her shift completely. She could just sneak in the back door and curl up in a corner somewhere. Of course, that was assuming she could make it there. She already passed out the pain and woke up in a bush once. She felt like she was going to die.
[Find Yvette anywhere in town that's not a main street or anything, trying to keep out of sight. She took some discount anti-shifting potion and is paying for it. Find her in any stage of transformation too.]

Date: 2017-01-03 01:33 am (UTC)"I took one of those potions," she said, gasping for a breath as the pain subsided for a moment. The coming and going of it all was one of the worst parts of it all, right after the actual pain. The actual pain was definitely the worst part. "But I don't think it worked right. I can't fully shift but I keep trying to shift."

Date: 2017-01-04 10:51 am (UTC)"..you probably didn't get an antidote with that potion either?"
no subject
Date: 2017-01-04 06:46 pm (UTC)"And why the hell would I want an antidote? I shouldn't need one, the potion should have worked like they promised!"

Date: 2017-01-05 10:54 am (UTC)"Can you go back to the people that helped you? Get another one for free, with hopes of that being good enough? I wouldn't, because I don't know what damage I'd be doing to myself, but it's your body, so your solution."

Date: 2017-01-07 05:16 am (UTC)"That you for the philosophy lesson," she said, biting on the words to keep from completely snapping at him. Having someone tell her now that the potions didn't always work was news she could have used yesterday.
"I wish, but if I go back now, I will kill them. I really don't want to have to leave town because of that. I just need to get to work. They have spells to dampen powers, I think that will be enough."

Date: 2017-01-07 07:32 pm (UTC)"Where do you work? Not to pick you up, just so I know where to go. If you want me to get you there, of course. I probably should have started with asking if I needed to call someone for you.."
no subject
Date: 2017-01-12 03:50 pm (UTC)"No, don't need to call anyone," she said, probably just a bit too quickly. No one who knew her here was anyone she wanted to know she was having this problem. "Just need to get to the Watersong. And if you could just... walk with me that would be great."
no subject
Date: 2017-01-12 07:43 pm (UTC)He shook the doubts off, she needed help anyway. "I know Watersong, it's full of se- people. Okay, let's do this."

Date: 2017-01-15 12:48 am (UTC)"It's full of wards that dampen magical abilities," she said, doing her best to walk steadily. She thought she was doing a pretty good job. It probably helped that her body healed her after every agonizing attempt at shifting. It was some sort of messed up blessing.
"I think it will work enough to keep me from shifting."

Date: 2017-01-15 11:36 am (UTC)"You thought it through. Or well like - now you're thinking it through."
no subject
Date: 2017-01-16 10:54 pm (UTC)"Yeah, they're pretty nice to look again," she agreed before her body tried to change again and she cried out in pain, dropping to her knees. She curled one hand around her stomach and held the other up in a "stop" gesture just in case the guy wanted to help. She was getting used to this now, or at least the timing of it, and a bit later it passed and she stood back up, trying not to shake too much while she dusted off her pats.
"And I did think it through, I thought I didn't want to shift so I got a potion!"
no subject
Date: 2017-01-17 01:20 pm (UTC)"At least that's a thought you won't have again any time soon?"
no subject
Date: 2017-01-21 01:36 am (UTC)"I'm definitely saving up for the name brand stuff next month, I don't care how many extra shifts I have to pick up or meals I have to go without," she said. It would be the first thing she set aside money for every month from now on. Assuming she survived this night of course.
"Look, if I start really... dying or something, will the hospitals take me?"
no subject
Date: 2017-01-22 11:51 am (UTC)"You're not going to die. And of course, why wouldn't hospitals take you. You're acting like you're the female version of Harrison Ford's The Fugitive. You're going to be fine."

Date: 2017-01-28 09:07 pm (UTC)"Because I don't want to be a werewolf, why the hell else would I take it?" she growled, feeling her hackles raise (literally and figuratively) the more angry she got. It didn't help that she was angry about being a werewolf to start with. She just wanted to bite and tear into something and- no, that was the wolf talking. She didn't want to do that.
"And they wouldn't because I'm a freak of nature!"
no subject
Date: 2017-01-29 03:59 pm (UTC)"Is there no pack for you?"
no subject
Date: 2017-02-02 04:03 am (UTC)"I was born human, something bit me, and now I'm something else. That's a freak of nature," Yvette said and she wasn't going to hear arguments otherwise. This wasn't natural, not at all. Normal people, normal things didn't change their species.
"And I had enough werewolf packs when one bit me and locked me up. I'm better on my own."
no subject
Date: 2017-02-02 02:25 pm (UTC)"I'm sorry that you feel that way. And I'm sorry that that has been done to you. No-one should put such a big thing unto someone unwilling."
"I'm - I'm born a wolf. I've never changed with the moon. That's a bit freakish."
no subject
Date: 2017-02-05 03:29 am (UTC)"Of course it's freakish! That's what I've been saying!" she said. For a moment she had almost not been angry after his apology but then he had to go and say something like that. "Don't forget it's people like you that makes freaks like me and-"
She gasped again as the shift game, falling to her knees and gritting he teeth tightly as her body tried to shift. Was this some sort of stupid punishment for hating who she was? A moment later she pushed herself back up to her feet.
"I hate that so much."
no subject
Date: 2017-02-06 12:41 pm (UTC)"I can understand that." He offered his hands, "first we need to get you out of this painful situation. Condoning can happen another time, when you feel better."
no subject
Date: 2017-02-10 04:25 am (UTC)"We're almost there. And thanks. I know I'm being super extra bitchy so I appreciate you not bailing on me," she said. Later she'd send him a freaking thank you card or something but right now she thought she was being super kind not to rip out his throat. Or at least try to rip out his throat.

Date: 2017-02-15 02:18 am (UTC)"Trust me, I'm being about as nice as I can be right now," she said, gritting her teeth in a smile. "You are being a freaking saint right now though. Once I get to work can I get you a drink?"
no subject
Date: 2017-02-16 01:37 pm (UTC)"Sure. I'm always told that you can never have too many friends, or too many meetings. Usually that's about first impressions, but we can ignore that here. I can."
no subject
Date: 2017-02-19 11:16 pm (UTC)"You can definitely have too many meetings," Yvette said. Maybe that was a New England saying or something. On the west coast they definitely thought that you could have too many meetings. This was really a different world here.
"Hey, in case I pass out, you know where we're going, right?"
no subject
Date: 2017-02-20 11:13 am (UTC)If not ..he didn't hurt anyone acting like this. "Are you talking about business meetings? Because I don't have any experience with those."
