[Airy feels the soft pressure of Eve's hand as her shoulders begin to slide off the bed. First her torso and then her hips and finally her feet slide clumsily to the floor as Airy's eyes jolt open and she stares up at Eve.]
Ah-
[Her hands press against her heart and she makes no move to get up.]
You gave me flashbacks to the day I arrived here. I had a fight with the sheets... and I lost. [She pauses.] Jerk.
You want me to sing to you? Um... I can sing the song my mother used to sing to me. [She pushes herself up form the floor and crawls back onto the bed, sitting with her back against the wall.]
She sang it almost every night. It's the rain drops on roses song.
[She just hoped they didn't both end up crying or something because
sometimes thinking about mothers in this place was hard. Thinking about any
family is hard.]
Do you mind if I sing it with you? I love that song.
[Airy's plump lips curve into a warm smile as she settles back on the bed.]
Rain drops on roses and whiskers on kittens. Bright copper Kettles and warm woolen mittens. Brown paper packages, tied up with string. These are a few of my favorite things.
Cream-colored ponies and crisp apple strudels. Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles. Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings. These are a few of my favorite things.
Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes. Snow flakes that stay on my nose and eye lashes. Silver white winters that melt into spring. These are a few of my favorite things.
When the dog bites. When the bee stings. When I'm feeling sad. I simply remember my favorite things. And then I don't feel so bad.
[Eve continued to sing it with Airy, at least as far as she could
before she actually did fall asleep. Airy had a much prettier voice that
Eve did and there was something so soothing about the way that her friend
sang the song that even though she wasn't all that tired before she found
herself drifting off as she cuddled her best friend.]
Action
[She smiles softly and snuggles against Eve as she closes her eyes.]
Though if you want me to stay awake then you should push me off the bed now.
Re: Action
[Eve paused, thought about it, then reached out to push Airy off of the bed.]

Re: Action
You love me. You should have told me a more friendly way to keep you awake.
[Eve grinned as her stuck her head out over the edge of the bed to smile at her.]
I didn't get a lullaby.

Re: Action
I'd love that.
