[Airy watches Eve though her smile falters as her friends words begin to sink in.]
If I really really liked someone like that... I already know that it'll hurt. Whatever happens will hurt. I don't think I could ask anyone to be exclusive in a place like this. It feels like a very mean thing to do. [Not to mention that ex sexual partners would just be walking around. That, to Airy, feels very awkward.]
I don't honestly think that anyone would like me like that.
[Airy doesn't think it's hard to ignore people throwing themselves at you. When you truly love someone, it's really easy. What's hard is the pollen and other loopholes that seem to be littered around the world.]
If I find someone here I love... truly love, I'd find their world. I'd find them. I know that I could. [She has that power, when the fairies aren't dampening it.]
Hey! I will punch you, Airy Miller, for talking that way about my friend. Just because that friend is you doesn't change that. Of course someone will love you like that.
[Eve said it with all the confidence in the world because she knew it was true. She was good at interpersonal relationship stuff and she knew that someone was going to fall madly in love with Airy and want only her.]
Okay, so then it's different for you because most of us can't do that. Which will made it harder. Sorry, honey, I wish I had an easy fix for you but that's real talk.
Ah- [Airy pauses, processes Eve's threat and then smiles.] Thanks Eve. I guess I do need a good smack in the head sometimes. I'll stop saying bad things about your friend though.
[She bites her lower lip a little bashfully before looking back up at Eve. Airy is really lucky to have Eve as a friend.]
I know. I mean, I know I'm a little odd when it comes to those kinds of things. It makes it easy but then complicated too since I usually have to feel something to keep sleeping with someone. [It's bound to cause problems but Airy's done thinking about that. She reaches forward and pulls Eve into a cuddly hug.] Thanks Eve.
[Eve leaned in and kissed the tips of Airy's nose, glad that her friend was going to at least try to be a little more kind to herself.]
Sweetie, you need to stop considering what you want odd or weird. Everyone is different. That's what makes people great. How we're made up can be frustrating or make things difficult for us but you're not abnormal for not being like other people. That's just existence. And you're right, I am the best best friend ever. And you are now my pillow and I am going to snuggle and sleep on you forever.
Oh no. I'll never be able to get up again. [Her head turns to look at Eve with an affectionate smile.] Thank's Eve. I'm so happy to have you as my best friend. Even if that means I'll be your pillow.
[Airy feels the soft pressure of Eve's hand as her shoulders begin to slide off the bed. First her torso and then her hips and finally her feet slide clumsily to the floor as Airy's eyes jolt open and she stares up at Eve.]
Ah-
[Her hands press against her heart and she makes no move to get up.]
You gave me flashbacks to the day I arrived here. I had a fight with the sheets... and I lost. [She pauses.] Jerk.
You want me to sing to you? Um... I can sing the song my mother used to sing to me. [She pushes herself up form the floor and crawls back onto the bed, sitting with her back against the wall.]
She sang it almost every night. It's the rain drops on roses song.
[She just hoped they didn't both end up crying or something because
sometimes thinking about mothers in this place was hard. Thinking about any
family is hard.]
Do you mind if I sing it with you? I love that song.
[Airy's plump lips curve into a warm smile as she settles back on the bed.]
Rain drops on roses and whiskers on kittens. Bright copper Kettles and warm woolen mittens. Brown paper packages, tied up with string. These are a few of my favorite things.
Cream-colored ponies and crisp apple strudels. Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles. Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings. These are a few of my favorite things.
Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes. Snow flakes that stay on my nose and eye lashes. Silver white winters that melt into spring. These are a few of my favorite things.
When the dog bites. When the bee stings. When I'm feeling sad. I simply remember my favorite things. And then I don't feel so bad.
[Eve continued to sing it with Airy, at least as far as she could
before she actually did fall asleep. Airy had a much prettier voice that
Eve did and there was something so soothing about the way that her friend
sang the song that even though she wasn't all that tired before she found
herself drifting off as she cuddled her best friend.]

What do you mean temporary?
Re: Action
You never know, you might find someone that feels the same way as you.
[Eve understood it though, if for no other reason than people kind of threw themselves at each other and that was a lot of temptation to resist.]
I mean they said they'd send us back. So what's the point of getting super serious and all that when you'll be sent home at any moment?

Good.

You going to sleep over then?
Re: Action
A sleep over sounds fantastic. If that's cool with you?
[Because now that she was here she didn't want to leave. Snuggling up with Airy and falling asleep next to her actually sounded pretty fantastic.]
Action
[She smiles softly and snuggles against Eve as she closes her eyes.]
Though if you want me to stay awake then you should push me off the bed now.
Re: Action
[Eve paused, thought about it, then reached out to push Airy off of the bed.]

Re: Action
You love me. You should have told me a more friendly way to keep you awake.
[Eve grinned as her stuck her head out over the edge of the bed to smile at her.]
I didn't get a lullaby.
